Alternatively, you just need to:
  - apt-get build-dep openser
  - apt-get install libssl-dev
  - get the openser source, link packaging/debian to debian
  - {vim,emacs} debian/rules
     Set the TLS variable to 1
  - debuild (from the devscripts package)

And here you have your openser w/SSL debian packages.

(with the openser 1.2 packages that should land in unstable shortly, 
you'll just have to apt-get source openser, set TLS=1 in debian/rules 
and rebuild, as I'm using the TLS source tarball)
