I agree.

I have a hack:

        avp_write("$ruri/username","i:678");
        avp_subst("i:678", "/;.*//");
        avp_pushto("$ruri/username","i:678");

which tosses the tags in the ruri username.  It's ugly :-)

so, the source:
    sip:+5555;npdi=yes at domain.com
the result:
    sip:+5555 at domain.com
